The friends flew from Shenzhen to Phnom Penh. After a night's rest, they drove to Siem Reap the next day to uncover the mystery of this ancient kingdom from Angkor panoramic Museum.

DAY2:

Angkor panoramic museum experience history

Located on the road from Siem Reap to little Angkor, the panoramic museum is the only panoramic painting Museum in Siem Reap. The multimedia technology in the museum shows the history, culture and life of Angkor period from all angles.

Here we are at Phnom Penh palace!

I've heard the name of Phnom Penh palace for a long time. I don't say much. Let's have a look.

Phnom Penh palace was built by King Norodom from 1866 to 1870. It is a typical Khmer style building. It is the palace of Sihanouk, the king of the forbidden state. Surrounded by yellow walls, it is the place where the king lives, works and meets foreign guests. Viewed from the air, the palace is glittering with gold, which is particularly eye-catching.

Different from Chinese imperial palace buildings, the buildings of Phnom Penh palace have Khmer traditional architectural style and religious color. The palace has minarets, representing prosperity; the body of the palace is painted in yellow and white, yellow represents Buddhism and white represents Brahmanism.

After entering through the main gate, you can see the kaimalin palace, which is equivalent to the Jinluan palace in China's imperial palace. There is a king's throne. The throne is inlaid with gold and diamonds and exquisitely carved. The kaimalin palace is a place for the king to receive all officials, foreign dignitaries and foreign envoys to submit credentials.

In addition, there is a French building in Phnom Penh palace, which contrasts with other Khmer buildings, that is Napoleon III Pavilion, which was presented to King Norodom by French king Napoleon III.

The whole palace is divided into two parts: the royal residence area and the silver hall area. The royal residence area is open to tourists, while the residence of the king and the Empress Dowager is not accessible to tourists.
